The Aquaculture Students' Association is proud to host the 5th Careers Day in the Pathfoot building, University of Stirling on the 20th May 2019. Our main goal during the event is to bring students closer to the aquaculture industry and use it as an opportunity for networking and recruiting. Scottish Aquaculture Innovation centre (SAIC) will be our sponsor this year

This event will be sponsored by Scottish Aquaculture Innovation centre (SAIC) and will comprise of presentations from Stirling alumni and other leading members of the European aquaculture sector. In addition to presentations there will be exhibitor stalls from over 15 international companies offering you the opportunity to network with individuals working in aquaculture health, nutrition, technology, genetics and environmental management.

This is an opportunity for 4th Year Undergraduates, Masters and PhD students to begin their career path by interacting with working professionals from within the aquaculture field.

Coffee and lunch will be provided by the Institute of Aquaculture and the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC).

ARCH-UK Travel Bursaries Available to attend Careers Day

ARCH-UK don’t want talented young researchers to miss this worthwhile event, so to help PhDs and ECRs get there we are offering a total of £2000 worth of travel bursaries to cover necessary expenses.

  • £100 max. travel and expenses bursaries for PhDs/ECRs currently working or studying at institutions on mainland Scotland

  • £300 max. travel and expenses for PhDs/ECRs currently working or studying at institutions outwith mainland Scotland but within the UK (i.e. Hebrides, Northern Isles, England, Wales and Ireland)

Application deadline: Friday 8th March, 5pm

You must be a PhD student or an Early Career Researcher (defined as within 10 years of completing your PhD without a permanent position) and working or studying at a UK institution to apply.

Terms and Conditions

Travel and expenses must comply with the University of Stirling Expenses Policy, and can be used to cover necessary public transport, flights, accommodation and moderate food and drink expenses. Recipients of the ARCH-UK Travel Bursaries will be notified soon after application close and bursaries can only be claimed after the Careers Day, but must be within 3 months of the cost being incurred. Recipients will be sent a unique expenses form by the ARCH-UK Project Manager to claim. Original receipts, email receipts and/or original tickets with price indication and proof of payment will be required to claim expenses. Email booking confirmations will not be accepted as proof of payment.

Recipients will be required to provide a short report, and/or one social media post tagging @Aquaculture_hub describing their experience of the event. By receiving the bursary you agree to ARCH-UK using your report materials on our online media platforms and newsletters.
